Sleep study nightmare

So because of the other night Erik had to have a sleep study done. The doctor put a rush on it and got him in last night. It was horrible! They had to hook up a whole bunch of wires and he did not like it one bit. They said that the kids they have done this to before did alright and once the wires were on and he was asleep the wires would stay on. They were wrong! Our appointment was at 8:45 and he did not get fully hooked up until about 12:30-12:45am! As soon as he would fall asleep they would get a few of the wires on then he would wake up roll around and then get tangled up in all of the wires. They were everywhere around his arms, neck, stomach, and legs. It was scary. And the most important thing he needed on, the nasal cannula, he would not keep on. I finally had to hold him down so they could tape it on to him. Thankfully he did keep them on for about an hour and a half to two hours. They were supposed to get 6hrs of sleep study. Where he was sleeping in REM sleep or dream sleep. They only got 1! So hopefully they will be able to get what ever they needed to see why he stopped breathing the other night.

This is how it was all night. Every time we would try to untangle him would wake up and then get tangled all over again. The wire he has a death grip on in his hand is his nasal cannula. He would not let us keep that on him for anything. All the little gold things on the wires should be on his head.

Daddy untangling Erik for what seemed like the thousandth time.

A VERY big thank you to the makers of this baby monitor it really does save lives

My handsome little man who is safe and sound now.

I have blogged about our baby monitor before. But I feel it needs a new post as it saved Erik's life last night. For those that do not know it is a special monitor that goes under his crib mattress and monitors breathing movements and any other movements in the crib. After no movements for 20 seconds it sets off an alarm. Well that is exactly what happened. At 4:40am it went off. Arli got to him first and said as soon as he picked him up he was breathing again. After talking with Arli this morning we figured out that he was smothering in his blanket. (I just thought I would edit this after talking with Arli again he said Erik was not in the blanket the blanket was near him. But not near his face.) After Joslynn died we stop putting anything in the cribs except for a blanket because we keep the house freezing at night. I never thought that a blanket could do that to a baby who is able to roll. I know they say no big thick blankets when they are little. But I thought 10 mo he would be ok. But I was wrong and I am so thankful that we have this monitor. It is so hard to think of what we would be going through again if not for it. I recommend this to any Mommy with infants out there. I just thought I would edit this after talking with Arli again he said Erik was not in the blanket the blanket was near him. But not near his face.

Here is the babysense V movement sensor monitor. The BEST baby monitor out there.

Picnic in the living room

At the beginning of the month AJ and Erik had a picnic in the living room. Well it was actually a bedtime snack. But they loved it as it is a treat for them to do it. Since then we have had a few more picnics in the living room. Even had friends over to join us. But it was so crazy that day that I forgot to take pictures.

Potty Training

So this is late. But over July 4th weekend we tried the 3day potty training program. I really love this program. It has so many good reviews and stories from friends. But at this moment for AJ it did not work. They want you to keep giving the child fluids all day long. But after 2 sippies AJ refused to drink anything. We are continuing to potty train him. Although I have slacked over the last few weeks. But he loves to wear his big boy undies and sitting on the potty. He has now started to let me know when he is poopy or peed. He waddles. It is so funny. He even wants Erik to wear big boy undies. So hopefully by the time my Grandma gets out here he will be out of diapers.

AJ wanted me to put undies on his and Erik's head. He is such a silly boy.
But he did not want his picture taken.

Erik was not to impressed with bubby's idea.

As you can tell from the pictures of AJ that he is not my picture boy anymore. He runs and starts to cry after the 3rd or 4th picture.

My endowments!

This is a little bit late. But last Saturday I went to the Las Vegas Temple to receive my endowments! I am so glad that I did. It was so spiritual and moving. One of the most moving moments was when I was in the celestial room I felt Joslynn right there with me. Almost as if I were holding her again. I did not want to leave. But knew that since I had done the right thing that i could always come back to that moment and be with her again.
Arli went with me and sat down in the lobby the whole time. Everyone there kept commenting about how he was there supporting me and that they have only ever seen a handful of husbands doing that. I know he felt the spirit. I think that he does not want to admit it, but I know he did. I mean who couldn't? It is the house of the Lord. I am so blessed that I have a wonderful husband who supports me in what I believe and know is true. I can not wait for that day when I can go with him to the Temple and be sealed for time and all eternity.

July 4th!

I love celebrating Independence day. I love living in this country and even though we are going through tough times I love it, and would not trade it for the world. I have always loved watching all of the fire works and parades. This year we were stuck at home potty training AJ which I will blog about later. But we took a little break and went outside to do some poppers. Which was just fine with AJ. He loved them! Those were the extent of our fireworks this year. Arli and I watched the big ones on TV. I can not wait until next year when we can take the boys to a parade and big fire works. I know AJ and Erik will just love them.

AJ's 2!

I can not believe that AJ is 2! It has been the best 2 years of my life. He has grown so much. Everyday when I look at Erik and then AJ or vice versa I get tears in my eyes. Knowing that in what seemed like a blink of an eye he went from newborn to two years old. There are little things he seems to be doing everyday that make seem older because he is doing them for the first time and it reminds me of things my brother did at like 3 or 4yrs old. He has gone twice this week to the store and picked out and paid for his new toy, he now pushes big trucks around on his knees, turns anything into a race track, he loves to pretend play now. The things he bought with his birthday money were a doctors kit and Mc Donalds food. He has not put the food down in 3days. Today when I dropped him off at nursery he just looked back said "bye" and waved. Which he does to everyone we see at the store along with hi. His vocabulary has grown so much in the last 6mo it is crazy. He went from saying 3 words(ow, daddy and cheese) to saying over 25 and is saying new ones daily.

His birthday went awesome. He had a lot of friends who love and care about him show up. He did not get all of the presents or games. But that was ok. He did do pin the nose on elmo. He received a ton of gifts including 2 bikes. My sister her kids, aunts and cousins all got him a bicycle with training wheels. He can not reach the pedals yet. But loves to ride it. My mom got him a little quad that only goes a maximum of 2mph and only goes forward when a button is pushed. He loves them both so much. Both him and Erik are having a great time with his new toys.

I love you so much AJ. You are growing up so quickly I sometimes want time to stand still so I have more time with you as a toddler. You are such a wonderful boy and big brother. I love you baby boy.

No more monkeys jumping on the bed!

Today I had to give a talk in church about Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and my decision to get baptized. I was super nervous because the reason for me getting baptized was because of Joslynn's passing. Which of course is a hard subject for me to talk about especially in front of a room full of people. But I did great and actually got through it with few tears. I left AJ at home since I would have to sit up with the Bishop and he would just try to run to me or throw a huge fit for whoever was watching him for me.

Well when I got home AJ and Arli we gone. Then my computer screen showed listings for urgent cares. I panicked. My mom called and said that she came and took Arli & AJ to urgent care because AJ fell and hit his head. After talking with Arli he said that AJ had been jumping on our bed and fell of and bonked his head on the night stand. And that he thinks he will need stitches. Well AJ had to have 2 staples! I feel so bad for him. But he is going to be the death of me as soon as he got home he was running around climbing over his little chair and hitting his head! I kept having to tell him to stop. He had 3 close calls almost hitting the hutch in the same spot he just got staples. I have no clue what I am going to do with him.

Meeting Farrah the ferret

My friend who I go walking with every Wednesday has a ferret. She is usually shy but came out to eat while we were there this week. The boys loved her. AJ just kept chasing her around and Erik kept trying to get her food. She is so good with kids she never even nipped when Erik grabbed her.

T-R-O-U-B-L-E

That should have been AJ's middle name. I have mentioned before how he is super duper quiet when he wakes up. Well a few weeks ago I woke up to him coloring himself with markers.

Look mom I am so pretty

I am in trouble now

Erik has now learned how to pull himself up! I am so proud of him. But I am also in for it. In no time at all I will have 2 walking and getting into everything. Erik is also crawling. Which I am going to get a video of soon. He learned how to crawl before he learned how to sit. Which is so odd to me. But oh well he is good at both now. He is actually getting into everything that AJ isn't. Which just keeps me on my toes.

So Big!

Summer Fun

Since it is Summer. We have been doing a lot of swimming. AJ does not like it if we are by ourselves at the pool. But when his cousins were here he absolutely loved it. I did not even have to put him in a floatie. Erik also loves the water. But he gets horrible red eyes everytime we go. I love the summer time and I love to go swimming.

All ready to go swimming

Erik loves swimming. But his poor little eyes.

The whole gang...Mom, Nicole, Kenton, AJ & Erik in the floaties, Kaci and Ashton in the pool.

AJ is by his self here. But this is a kiddie pool at my friends house.

The strip take 3

So the day after Arli and I took the boys to the strip my Mom and I decided to take my cousins and the boys down to the strip. We went to the secret garden which has dolphins, lions, tigers, and a couple other wild animals. It was fun. But after 2days in a row at the strip I was done. for at least a month. But we will see.

Catching up

So I have slacked a lot the last couple weeks. But I finally have a little bit of time to catch up on things.

The strip take 2.

Only a week and a half after my mom, sister, cousin, neices, myself and the boys went to the strip. Arli and I decided we would do a day on the strip. We had a blast going to the coke store, m&m store and to shark reef again. This time AJ had a full blown fit at shark reef. He is really hitting the terrible two's. He loved the 3d movie they have at m&m world. We do not make to many trips down to the strip even though we live here. But I think we will have to take another one soon.

Memorial Weekend

I know this is late. But we have had company out the wazoo lately and I have just not had time to blog.
Memorial Weekend we took the boys to Aliante Discovery Park. It is such a cool park. There is ducks, water park, a dinosaur dig area, 2 play grounds that are huge. AJ had a blast just running around. He did not want to share his bread with the ducks though. We would give him a piece and show him how to do it and he would just run off with his bread. He could not get enough of the water. Erik did not like it to much.

The rest of the weekend we just lounged around here at the house.

AJ loved running through this.

Shark Reef

While my sister was here we decided to take the kids to Shark Reef. It was a lot of fun. But was also very hard with two 2yr olds and 2 infants and a 5yr old who had to be 4 at shark reef and 6 if we got pulled over. She just barley turned 5 but 4 and under were free at shark reef and 5 and up was like $11. I did not have her booster seat in my car and law here is 6yrs or 60lbs and she is no where near 60lbs. It was so funny when we got to Burger King she said "I don't want to be this many anymore" and held up 4 fingers. But anyways about Shark Reef. We started the day off with breakfast and slushies...yummy. Then headed off to shark reef. The kids loved looking at all of the fish and sharks. They had lots of other things there too they had a crocodile, komodo dragon, another type of huge lizard, piranhas, an octopus and jellyfish. They even have a cool touch pool where you can touch sting rays and horse shoe crabs. Everyone but the little babies, AJ and my mom touched them. There is also these tunnels that are surrounded by water. It is crazy the sharks are swimming right above and all around you. The kids loved looking at all of the fish. We had a great day and I can not wait to go back this summer with my friend Tawnie and her little girl.
